Arenas: The Inside Look
Evening everyone,
So I play multiple MMORPG's and what several games had was a better Team organized Player versus Player content.
Here comes my following idea wich I really want to come true.
==============================================
Short explain
It's easy, you create an Arena Team, like you create a Guild and invite several people that want to join you in upcoming Arena battles similair to Random Arenas and Team Arenas. What the idea behind my kind of Arena is, is that you always fight with the same person in your Arena Team.
We call the 2 players in the organized Arena team Zi and Li.
Zi is a fierce and muscled Warrior. He will go for the hard slaps and bangs against other opponents.
Now Li is the harmfull, but blessed Monk that keeps the Warrior alive with all his skills he learned over some time of learning.
Enough whining, you get the point, lets go inside the arena.
So, Zi and Li made their Arena and are bored. So, Zi presses H and clicks on the Tab, "My Arena Team". He sees that Li is online and whispers him to come over to the Arena Isle.
They group up over there and click on "Enter Battle".
During this time, Guild Wars will look for an opposing team that also made an Arena Team with a similair rating.
So lets say the rating are like the Guild Ratings.
They both start at 1000.
During the wait time Zi and Li both started up Ventrillo to really get into the Arena-feeling and they both get very excited to destroy the opposing group.
There they go, into the Arena.
Since this is the first time for Zi and Li, Zi presses "U" just for a quick view on the map, since the gate is closed for a small 20 seconds before the game begins.
Li is also checking the mini-map, but he's not looking how beautifull it is, he's looking for hiding spots. A hide spot is like a wall where Li covers behind to not get hit by spells. Cause all GuildWars players need to know about "Obstruct".
Lets show a view of Li's minimap:
1. The starting points of Zi and Li. It takes around 15 seconds before the gate opens, so theres enough time for both players to connect to the game and maybe do a quick buff.
2. The opposing group starts here, same info as I told at 1.
3. This is a wall, where u can hide behind it to avoid spells, like an incoming Fireball.
Now Li has seen the map, he knows he needs to hide behind that wall sometime so he won't get too much damage at a time.
No further explain needed, here they will fight until someone dies.
Maybe I will go further later in what spells are allowed and what spells maybe not to avoid glitchers hat take advantages of some elemetns in the area.
Rewards
Now, when you win, you go up some ratings, just like the Guild Ratings. You will also gain points for winning an Arena, with these points you can buy exclusive armor sets and weapons/mods.
As you can see, this is just a very small explanation about whats the idea behind it, but hopefully you guys can see something in it. Give your oppinions.
Greets,
Nookie

So it's a glorified version of RA? Srs biz here.
New flash: GW players dun know how to dodge fireball.
edit: woops, my bad. I thought it was 4v4.
2v2 will promote even more gimmicky builds than TA right now.

What he said.
2v2 Arenas would be dominated by some sort of spike sin and a hybrid monk, no question about it.

what?
/close please, post doesn't make a lot of sense. Sounds kinda like HBs, I think (can't really be certain what the guy wants). I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't know about/understand all the different PvP types in GW enough to make a suggestion about a new play style.

It's just abit like TA, but here you actually can go for something.
1. Getting a good rating with your team
2. Get exclusive armor sets and weapons
It's not about the builds being used in it, there's always a better that I've seen so far.

You can already get armor and weapons from Reward Points.
2v2 arena? yeah......... What was it Counter Strike I think that had the 2v2 rankings and tournies, you must have come form there.
If you like TA then think of an idea to improve that game play, not make up some silly new format with silly new rewards.
